i think that we should get wine

Today I made some bad decisions. I'm not sorry.

Since I went to bed so late last night I decided that I'd sleep in today. I got up 16 minutes before my alarm and got to work. I ate my usual peanut butter and honey while checking Facebook, and then quickly moved on to finishing my reading for pop. Surprisingly, it only took me an hour to read the eleven pages I had left. Next up was scheduling my weekend (it's going to be a busy one, folks), and then I reviewed what we've gone over in my french class. I then did my hair and makeup before getting into bed to edit my histories paper. It is improving, but it was sounding repetitive so I chopped out a paragraph. And another one bites the dust.

It wasn't time for me to get dressed my histories excursion yet, so I got into bed and watched a new episode of people's court while eating a snickers. I checked the weather report, which said that it wouldn't rain today, and got myself dressed while finishing up the episode. Once it was over I left for class.

I took the one to Clemenceau and found my way out of the metro. I was surprised to see a Marché de Noël set up right where my class was meeting! The marché de noël is a Parisian tradition. It's a Christmas market that sells everything holiday related. There are candied chestnuts, Christmas ornaments, huge sausages, fur hats, handmade paper, candles. You name it, it's there. There is also mulled wine. I spotted one of my classmates and approached her. I told her that we should get some wine, and she agreed. We each paid three euros to get a moyen mulled wine. It was huge and came in a souvenir cup. She took a few sips, and then spotted a kebab stand. She got a sandwich, which she then covered and mustard, and then we went to meet our group. Her sandwich was delicious; she gave most of it away to the class. My professor's reaction to seeing me drink a huge cup of wine was "oh, you got wine too?". It was going to be a long class.

We marched around what seemed like all of Paris in the freezing cold. We talked about the statue of de Gaulle, frieze on the grand palais that talks about the history of French and world art, the Alexander III bridge, a multitude of statues (that were dedicated to a Polish writer, the Canadians, the Armenian genocide, and some others that I can't remember; there were a lot of statues), and then the frieze about the history of art in France and the world. We ended up talking about the torch that people think is a memorial to the death of Princess Diana.

I held my cup of wine and notebook in one hand and then somehow managed to use pressure to keep the notebook in place while I wrote with my other hand. My poor left hand was not only frozen, but permanently locked into a claw shape. My nose was running, and I was becoming progressively drunker as the class went on. By the end of the lecture my wine was ice cold, and so was my body. I don't regret getting the wine.

We had walked across such a large area that we ended up at a completely different metro stop than we started at. When I was at gare de lyon I tried using two different metro tickets, but they were both rejected. I ended up just walking through an open gate instead of figuring out what was the matter. Well, on the way home, the metro tickets (that were technically unused) were rejected. I ended up fishing another metro ticket out of my purse. I guess I'm finally paying for last night's and both of today's metro trips.

A group of us went back home together by taking the nine to FDR then transferring to the one from there. I got on a different car than my classmates when we got to the one. I transferred from the one to the eight at Bastille. I managed to finally get out at the right exit (Ledru-Rollin if I want to go to school), and walked to Accent. I walked into the gate and then heard my classmates from my histories class behind me. We all went in and I tried to sober up before going to class. My package from mom still hasn't arrived, but I got a little excited when I saw a yellow slip in my area of the mail; it ended up being for another person.

During pop I was even drunker than I had been during histories. All I could do was sit there blankly and try to take notes while we walked videos about hip hop culture and spinning. If someone ever spun one of my vinyls I would murder them. Watching a French breakdancing video was kinda entertaining, though.

After class I came straight home and made myself some ramen. I'm running out, but it's the only thing that I wanted to eat. I didn't have the patience to finally make pasta. I ate my ramen while watching people's court. I then edited my pop paper while eating some m&ms. My paper is actually coming together. I asked Mindy if she'd read it tomorrow before our meeting. I guess I'll just have to wait for her reviews.

Next up was watching new girl in bed while I waited to skype with mom. She was late as usual, but we had a lot to talk about. We haven't seen each other in forever!

Ugh, now it's time for bed. I better not be hungover tomorrow.
