it looks like brooklyn

I did not sleep well last night. When I got up in the middle of the night I was even more drunk than went I went to bed and could hear the beer sloshing in my stomach. Next time I'll order a small. Of course on the one day that I truly needed to sleep in, I managed to wake up half an hour early. I started my day by checking my email and Facebook and then eating some more cake. It doesn't taste any better, but I'm not longer disappointed about it.

I met Kristina downstairs and we walked to Accent early to print our compositions out. Turns out half the class didn't write their compositions, and were forced to write a few words during our 15 minute break to make up for their shortcomings; I'm sure that it didn't. Class was okay. I didn't feel as panicked today, and I managed to read about without sweating palms or a cracking voice. During our 15 minute break I changed the practicum to pass/no pass. The pace is just too fast, and I'm just ready to put these few weeks behind me.

In more ironic news, I got 100% on my quiz yesterday. Life can be so weird sometimes.

After class I asked Kristina if she wanted to go to the boulangerie avec moi. She asked if we could go to the Starbucks in the Bastille before my errand, and I said yes. We got her vente vanilla latte, and then she wanted to stop in some stores to look around. We went to Sephora, Gap, and a cute Parisian store. Paris looks a lot like Brooklyn if everyone in Brooklyn spoke French and there were fewer golden monuments and Catholic churches.

We also stopped at a movie/book store that she could buy a season of Friends in French. We then went to the boulangerie for my daily bread fix. I wasn't going to get my bread today considering yesterday's overspending, but I thought one euro wasn't too much of an extravagance. I got a baguette viennoisoie. I didn't really like it; it's a baguette that tastes like a croissant with a sugary exterior. I won't be getting it again.

I came home and did homework. When I got home I noticed the maintenance man's cart a few doors down from mine. I knew that he would be cleaning my room during homework time. I wasn't surprised when he rang my bell and came in to clean. I really like having a clean room without doing it myself, but I was still a little peeved when he moved things around in my bathroom.

On a break from my studying I read my emails. I got an email from Carole stating that she had run into my professor who had nothing but good things to say about my performance, and telling me to keep up the good work. It was to hear encouraging words. After finishing checking my emails, I decided to watch tv in bed.

I've been walking passed a Chinese/Japanese restaurant since learning about the back gate to my dorm, and a certain shrimp dish has been teasing me from the window. I decided that today was the day to fulfill my fantasies. I walked to the restaurant and managed to motion and use enough French to buy some noodles and shrimp and a spicy sauce and have it heated. My delicious binge was 6 euro 98; at least I was under budget today. The shrimp were huge and really good, but I wasn't in love with the noodles but I ate them anyway.

I practiced my presentation for tomorrow's class between episodes of Judge Judy, barely able to curl up in bed due to my full stomach. I have to tell a story about my first week in Paris using the story telling words that we've learned and the past tense. I think I'll be fine as long as I don't get stage fright.

I'm ending my night with more Judge Judy and some ice cream because, hell, why not.
