Kind of a disappointing day, but I blame that mostly on myself.
I was riding high yesterday after receiving such great quiz results so I decided not to get up early to study before my final this morning. I was sure that we weren't going to get a list of things that would be on the final exam (which is usually emailed to us after midnight the morning of the quiz). Well I was wrong. I fell asleep in front of my computer at 11 last night, so I wasn't surprised when I woke up at about 8 this morning. I managed to fight the urge to get up until 8:22. I always check my email first thing in the morning, and this morning I was surprised to find an email from my professor. The list of items that were going to be on the quiz read like a laundry list.
I jumped out of bed and prioritized to only cover only the things which I didn't know or desperately needed to review. Thanks to google, I found out how to conjugate prendre in the present tense, and then I turned my attention to studying the extra credit vocab and writing out the dictation. I got dressed, and with barely twenty minutes to spare, I wrote out the dictation one more time before literally running out the door.
I saw Hanna inside of Talia's room by the elevator and made friendly chit chat with her. Hanna and I got on the elevator together and walked to school together. I was surprised to find out that she's actually a nice girl and we had a fine conversation (Hanna is one of the girls who is once again responsible for making noise outside my door as I type this). We got to school and found out that we were in a classroom in another building upstairs. We found the door, but it was locked, so we and several other classes waited out in the hallway.
Our professor arrived, and we all filed in. The test happened. Who cares about testing details besides a few little things. 1. Our professor always writes the percentages of each section on the side of the examen. I noticed that the percentages were in fairly large chunks on each page, so with the extra time I had after I finished the exam, I added them up; the exam was worth closer to 150% than 100%. Considering that she gave us an automatic extra 5% last time, I think she might be doing the same thing again. 2. The exam was way easier than I thought it would be. Maybe I didn't do so bad.
After the test, we watched the Intouchables in French with English subtitles. We are finishing it on Tuesday when our class meets during the regular semester schedule. We were done with class at one, so I had the whole day to myself. I had planned on going grocery shopping after class and going to the boulangerie.
I went to Monoprix and picked up more cookies, pain au chocolat, and potato chips. Then I went to the boulangerie that's across from the café (their bread is delicious). Then I went to Franprix to get a Breton. Then I went home.
It was a beautiful day today so I opened my window to let the sunshine in. I ate my baguette with a glass of wine while watching Judge Judy. My stolen internet has been a little troublesome for the past two days so watching tv was a little bit of a challenge. When I got home this afternoon, I found an email from my mom asking to Skype; I was already in class. Well, while I was watching tv I got another email from her. I got to Skype with her for a few minutes before she had to get ready to fly to San Francisco with my dad for my aunt's birthday party. It was so nice seeing her.
While I was talking to my mom she asked what I was going to do with the rest of my day. She didn't seem surprised when I said that I didn't have plans. I felt a little down after that so I sank into bed and picked out another episode of Judge Judy.
Halfway through the episode, I realized that it was Friday and that I hadn't mailed my letters yet. I got dressed and walked to the post office. I managed to figure out how to get stamps for my letters, and then I had to figure out how to mail them. I knew that the last time I was at the post office there was a woman stamping letters. I got into a line with everyone else considering that they were doing the same thing. When I got to the front of the line the man told me "l'exterior". I thought he meant outside, but I wasn't sure. I had heard a man at another counter speaking English earlier so I got into his line. After a few moments he noticed me. I approached him and said that I didn't speak French and asked where I should put the letters (in French, might I add!). He and the English-speaking customer at the counter told me they went outside. Oh.
I dropped off my letters and went home. I've been home ever since.
Like a true nerd with no life, I corrected my composition that's due on Tuesday. I suppose that I'll fall asleep in front of my computer again. On a bright note, I have an adventure planned for tomorrow. I'm thinking about going to the Monet museum or to the Paris Museum of Modern Art. We'll see what happens.
